| Tom Face didn't even want to go out to
Glamis on his first trip of the season because he had so much going on
at work. But he bit the bullet and
went out anyway like many of us do because we're just die-hard duners.
Tom's an avid enthusiast and makes many of the headers for the cars at Glamis. This trip to Glamis turned out
to be his day to win, even with a threatening problem. It was a hot day in the 90's and running the car hard made his
engine overheat. Tom had a safety sensor that kept telling the
engine management system to shut down
the motor. The two laps of balls to the wall driving in the EPO
event would surely
shut down the motor before he could finish, and that wasn't an option.
The solution, pull the plug on the sensor that was shutting down the
engine and hope for the best. It worked. He took home the
trophy, and #1 shirt. As for the motor, it seemed to survive. You can ride
along with him on his winning laps in
this video. |
