You
just "Gatta" come to the ReGatta NOV
8, 2008!
(if you own a Funco)
|
Every year Funco invites all Funco sandcar owners to the annual customer
appreciation day at Glamis. This year it will be the weekend of
November 10th. To attend you must let Funco know you want to participate.
As a Funco owner you should get an invite in the mail. If you bought a used Funco you're invited too, but you'll need to call Funco for the invite.
There's a fee for attending the regatta which pays for food, events, music, and T-Shirts,
payable
in advance to the event. Order you're T-shirts early, and
Dad....buy 2 if you intend to wear them a lot in the sand! If you
don't get an invite, call Jeri at Funco 909-421-2558. |
ATTENTION REGATTA
PARTICIPANTS
The costs of organizing our regatta has increased
over the years due to rules and regulations. We have seen
increased costs for permits and insurance,
hence the increased ticket price of attendance. Keep in
mind that Funco makes no money on this event.
As you may know all vendors at the
dunes pay fees to the BLM for the privilege of
selling products at Glamis. Since Funco is not an
approved vendor we must receive your prepayment to abide by the BLM
vendor rules. So...if you want to
attend everything must be
paid for in advance. No money exchanges hands by
Funco at the regatta.
Remember, sign up early
and pay in advance.

In Nov 2007 (picture shown below) we had the
largest turnout ever, many with new cars. There were packs of Funco cars
running around like never before. As you can imagine these are what good times are made of with lots
of duning, stories told, ideas shared, and friendships made. Everyone enjoys the meals provided personally
by Funco employees, complete with tent, music, tables, chairs and lots of prizes.
Ya Gatta attend the Regatta. |

RENDEZVOUS IN
THE DUNES !!!
The regatta event location is located at Glamis Dunes on Gecko Road,
pad 4 (about .25mi before the end of Gecko Rd). Get there early to claim your space, it gets crowded
by Thursday evening.
Remember, you can always camp elsewhere and simply show up
at Pad 4 in your Funco. Look for the big shade tent and the Funco
trailers. If you can come out on Wed or Thurs a few
days early
that's a
good plan. There's usually a good dune run Friday morning. Saturday is
filled with activities. And don't miss the group picture, usually taken around
9:30am Saturday morning.
Right after the group picture there's the poker run from 10:30 to 1pm. Then you're fed by the Funco
clan a great mess of carne asada or chicken burritos. In the afternoon you
get to test your blind-man driving skills. The day ends with an evening of
drawings and dancing to a DJ, a warm campfire, and lots of socializing. |

2007 Funco Regatta, Nov 10, 2007
What we're trying to says is....... if you own a Funco this is a
"MUST DUNE WEEKEND."
A fun time
is guaranteed for all.

Ah yes, carne asada and chicken burritos,
refried beans, nachos, and cookies.
What could be better out in the rough?

The poker run is always a hit. Here you can
see the extra fun at Check #2, pin the glasses on Jeri George while blind folded.
Other activities included during the poker run was "throw the football through
the hole" and a
golf sand wedge contest, "place the golf ball nearest the pin".

|
At the end of the day
everyone gets to try their skills and patience at the BLIND MAN's
RALLEY. The driver wears blacked out goggles and the passenger
instructs where to
go. The best time wins. This is where you get to test your listening
skills as well has your passengers "back seat" driver skills. You
quickly learn who knows their right from their left..... "no, your other right". |

John Rykowski won the 2007 BMR with his daughter Camber navigating.

Lots of people were staying their distance
to watch. |
